Please join the Wharton Club of the National Capital Region and the Wharton Club of Philadelphia for a virtual fireside chat with Slava Turyshev, an astrophysicist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Bogdan Gogulan, CEO & Managing Partner of NewSpace Capital on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 5:30 pm EST

Many of us have a limited understanding of space, but we are increasingly dependent on space technology for our everyday lives. With high levels of private funding, advances in technology and growing public-sector interest space increasingly becomes the next Land of Opportunity. The investment implications for a more accessible, less expensive reach into outer space could be significant, with potential opportunities in fields such as satellite broadband, high-speed product delivery, Earth remote sensing, power production, and perhaps even human space travel. Not only is the space economy set to grow at above GDP growth rates, but space has also become a strategic domain for national defense and security, climate change and connectivity. Will declining launch costs, advances in technology and rising public-sector interest position space exploration as the next multi trillion-dollar industry?

During this fireside chat we will discuss topics such as:
- What are the basics everyone should know?
- How big is the commercial space market?
- What is really happening in space beyond the headlines?
- What are the recent science and exploration highlights?
- Where is the technology heading and how does it affect us?
- When will space utilization become a reality?
- How should we think about Space Force and the risk of space wars in the future?
- A vision for a healthier and more connected planet to inspire humans.
