Skills and Qualifications
I am a Penn Law JD and Wharton/Lauder MBA/MA with experience in law, international business development, and corporate strategy in the renewable energy, edtech and healthtech sectors.
I am a community builder and would love to help build an even stronger Wharton Community in the Washington D.C. National Capital Region. I have extensive experience in event planning and creating community, having organized hundreds of events as a Penn Law and Wharton/Lauder student and alumna, professional, and parent. I have served as a Class Captain for my Wharton/Lauder class since graduation and previously volunteered as a Lauder Regional Captain for both Washington D.C. and San Francisco and a Facilitator for Lauder Women's Networking Circles. I serve on my neighborhood board and founded a group for 40+ neighborhood families as well as a bilingual playgroup for 50+ families raising Spanish-English bilingual children. In sum, across my personal and professional life, I have become an expert in people-oriented operations and leading multicultural and cross-functional individuals and groups.
Diversity
My family and I moved back to the D.C. region because of the incredible diversity in this community. I value diversity in all of its forms and believe strongly in using our Wharton skills to help others and promote access, equity and inclusion, and this would be a guiding principle of my approach to serving on the Board. Through Wharton-founded Code2College’s Vision 2024 - an initiative to help improve access to STEM careers for historically underrepresented communities - I serve as an Executive Mentor to, and champion of, high school and first-generation college students. I also have led the Spanish side of the National Voter Protection Hotline, working to enfranchise our Spanish-speaking citizens, and will continue to work on voter protection and empowerment in 2024.
Vision
Plan Events to Support Our Multi-Faceted Lives. Most of our members are balancing responsibilities inside and outside of the professional realm. I would like to organize events that 1) allow us to network and build relationships with other Wharton grads in family-friendly environments; 2) bring in expert speakers and organize workshops that help us navigate the constant juggling act that is personal and professional life (from parenting, to pursuing our passions, to division of household labor, to estate planning, etc.); and 3) are inclusive of alums who live and/or work outside of the District and in the greater National Capital Region.
Help Make the Washington, DC National Capital Region a Bigger Destination for Wharton Talent. I would like to help strengthen ties between Wharton talent and the Wharton alumni community in the Washington D.C. National Capital region. The diversity and quality of companies, organizations, and opportunities in the D.C. metro is incredible, and yet D.C. is often not at the top of the list of destinations for Wharton grads. This could include working closely with Wharton Career Management, networking/educational events for students and recent grads, a mentoring program, a D.C. job board, and more! Let’s work together to attract Wharton talent to our region and make the NCR a top destination for Wharton alums!
