Jeff Grass is a serial entrepreneur and proven leader with a track record of building great teams and successful businesses.
Jeff is the Chairman & CEO of HUNGRY, the first ever platform that provides exceptional business and event catering by a network of top local chefs. HUNGRY now operates in 7 cities across the U.S. and is revolutionizing the business and event catering industry. HUNGRY started in early 2017 and three years later raised a $20 million Series B valuing the company in excess of $100 million. HUNGRY investors include food industry heavyweights Walter Robb (Whole Foods), Celebrity Chefs Tom Colicchio (Top Chef) and Ming Tsai (Simply Ming), Seth Goldman (Beyond Meat & Honest Tea), Eric Kessler (Arabella Advisors, JBF), Dan Simons (Founding Farmers Restaurant Group). From the entertainment industry investors Jay Z (via Marcy Venture Fund), Usher, Kevin Hart, Dave Free and NFL superstars Ndamukong Suh, Bobby Wagner and Todd Gurley. HUNGRY’s venture capital investors Sands Capital Ventures, Motley Fool Ventures, Evolution VC Partners and Marcy Venture Fund.
Jeff is also Chairman & co-Founder of LiveSafe, Inc., a fast growing venture-backed (IAC Corp., Hearst Corp. & FedEx founder/CEO Fred Smith) mobile safety and anonymous communications platform which crowdsources safety insights and actionable intelligence that safety and security professionals can leverage for better situational awareness, evidence gathering and emergency response. He is also the Chairman & Founder of buySAFE, Inc. – a venture-capital backed (Grotech Ventures & Core Capital Partners) online trust company enabling businesses to rapidly increase customer trust, make online shopping safer and more confident for buyers and more profitable for online merchants.
In 1998, Jeff co-founded PayMyBills.com, an online bill management service. The company was a success story in the dot com era, growing to more than 200 people prior to its sale for $67 million.
In 2015, Governor Terry McAuliffe appointed Jeff to serve on the Board of Visitors at James Madison University and he has served as the Chair of the Audit Committee since 2017. We was reappointed to the Board in 2019 by Governor Northam. He also serves on the Board of James Madison Innovations, Inc., is a member of the Washington, DC YPO Chapter and advises several emerging companies in the Washington, DC area. Jeff earned his MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1999 and in 2012-13 served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at The Wharton School. In 1992, he earned a BBA in Finance and Economics from James Madison University, where in 2002 he was the youngest person in the school’s history to win the James Madison University’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. Jeff now lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife Michelle and two young children, Grayson and Riley.
He is an avid international traveler and has a history of running marathons barefoot though lately he’s mostly just an early morning bootcamp fanatic and loves spending time with his family.
