Vision
I would work with the other Board members to establish clear, quantifiable goals which would include: increasing membership, increasing the quantity and quality of events and better understanding the needs of our alumni in the DC area. I believe we should also explore ways to increase our club’s networking. Our network is one of the greatest assets and I’d like to help work with the other Board members, officers, affinity group volunteers and alums to do something really special. As CEO and co-founder of Treble (a business networking platform), and, having served on RPI’s and Johns Hopkin’s Alumni Boards, I have many insights I can share.
Special Skills, Qualifications & Previous Board Experience
I’m a math geek turned software-exec with over 35 years experience, mostly leading divisions of Fortune500 tech companies and serving in the DoD Intel Community (fun stuff I can’t talk about). I currently lead a start-up which I co-founded after a successful exit and I have a passion for business networking.
I serve on the board of two private companies and I’ve served on the Alumni Association Board of Trustees for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) where I earned my first two degrees. I also served on the Alumni Leadership Council at Johns Hopkins where I earned my MS EE. Twenty years ago, I launched the RPI Alumni Network (RAN), a non-profit, all-volunteer group of alums who helped each other network and learn to network. What I could bring to the Wharton club’s board is more than 20 years experience creating, leading, developing and growing alumni-based clubs and organizations. I have helped other alumni organizations increase membership by developing compelling programming (events, tools and resources) and I have been co-chairing the club’s “Tech Exec” affinity group for the past two years , hosting in-person and virtual events. I would bring my passion and experiences in a very hands-on approach if selected to serve.
I think it may also be worth noting that I’ve performed stand-up comedy, written many skits and performed and led three improv comedy troupes (PLEASE DON’T search for them…. ;-) so I like to have lots of fun while getting things done.
